Find Relief with Medical Cannabis

I was put on oxycodone for back pain. When medical marijuana came to my state I was initially skeptical but now a believer. I'm so much happier, pain free and no longer feel like I addict who needs his pills everyday. I can take a quick puff from my vaporizer and be good for hours.

What can I say? I used to feel like I didn't have meaning in my life and now I do. I used medical marijuana to treat another condition I was dealing with and I found relief for my depression and anxiety simultaneously. It has been a win-win for me and I'm finally happy again.

I've dealt with debilitating seizures for most of my life. I've tried every prescription option out there and pharmaceuticals just weren't the answer for me. Medical cannabis gave me an end to this horrible disease and a way to be a normal person again.

Cannabinoid Therapy

What is cannabinoid therapy? Cannabis, or medical marijuana, is available for prescription as part of a wholistic treatment plan in Florida. Cannabis is a flowering plant whose internal chemistry lends itself to psychoactive substance. Cannabinoids, by contrast, are the chemical compounds within the cannabis plant that have been found to be both psychoactive and of great medicinal value.

Cannabinoid therapy comes in two forms -- THC therapy and CBD therapy. THC is the most common form of psychoactive substance found in cannabis, and is typically what people are referring to when they opine about the positive aspects and side effects of undergoing medical cannabis treatment.

Cannabinoids activate substances our bodies naturally produce called endocannabinoids. These compounds regulate our internal homeostasis and promote wellbeing and health. THC binds to cannabinoid receptors in our brains, while CBD binds to receptors located in other places in our bodies. CBD is widely known as the lesser of the two cannabinoid compounds, and THC has been proven much more effective in medicating pain, seizures, sleep disorders, and nausea.

Although THC and CBD are the most popular and widely studied cannabinoids, the cannabis plant contains over 80 types of cannabinoid compounds. Many of these compounds havebeen scientifically proven to have medicinal value. Cannabinoids can help regulate mood and mood disorders, gastrointestinal problems, sleep issues, and a host of neurological abnormalities. Patients that undergo cannabinoid treatment typically report better senses of well-being, less pain, and lower stress associated with illnesses. Particularly those battling terminal illnesses and severe degenerative disorders are helped by medical cannabis and its psychoactive compounds.

Cannabinoid therapy can be used in the state of Florida, when prescribed by a doctor. It should be noted, however, that cannabis remains a federally controlled substance.

Qualifying for Treatment

If you have certain debilitating illnesses, you will qualify for treatment. These include, but are not limited to epilepsy, cancer, HIV/AIDS, and Chron's disease. Parkinson's and ALS patients qualify as well, as do some patients with severe mental health issues such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Each state is different and has their own requirements. You must be at least 18 years of age to qualify for cannabis treatment in Florida, and you must have a longstanding physician (more than three months) and complete medical records.

Certain patients with terminal illnesses will also qualify for low THC medical marijuana treatment in Florida. Cancer, seizures, and other debilitating illnesses might qualify you for treatment under the care of your physician.
